New Business:  none

Old Business:  Chairman Fryou noted that the mutual agreement between 911 and the City of Morgan City has been finalized.  Ms. Angeron told the members a space in the auditorium has been reserved for the 911 employees that stay during a major storm or other incident requiring them to evacuate the center.  She added that Ms. Lorrie Braus, with the City of Morgan City, was very helpful during the process.  Mr. Mayon asked about the portable 911 phone system.  Ms. Angeron told the members the system has been ordered and should be received by next week.  The recorders to the system have been back ordered.  While the date of delivery on the voice recorders is unknown, the system will work without them.  Training new dispatchers is another feature to the new portable system.  Mr. Minor suggested sending a thank you letter to the Mayor and his staff.  Mr. Mayon agreed, adding all board members should sign it.

Director Updates:  Ms. Angeron told the members a weather station has been purchased and installed at the center.  Assistant Chief Mark Stephens with the City of Morgan City fire department came to the 911 center and installed the system.  This could help in hazmat situations where wind speed and direction are essential to responders.

Mr. Barbier, certified CPR instructor for the Red Cross, has agreed to teach the 911 employees CPR and first aid.  All employees that stay during a storm will be required to take the class.

AT&T has sent a notice to the 911 center stating that the landline count for St. Mary Parish has decreased.  AT&T has approximately 21,000 customers in our parish.  Other telephone companies have approximately 4,000 customers.  Landlines in our parish have dropped for the last three years, while cellular phones have increased.

The new web site for the 911 center is under construction.  It should be up and running soon.  Each board member will have an email address on the site.  Ms. Angeron asked the members to be photographed for the site.  Chief Minor suggested a group picture of the board.

Mr. Glen Thibodeaux, of GT Services, Inc., sent a letter to the center concerning a power outage and subsequent surge.  The equipment purchased for protection from such incidents did its job.  The 911 equipment was protected.

Mr. Mayon welcomed Mr. Carl McAllister, Amelia Fire Chief, to the board of directors.  He will represent all the fire departments in the parish.  All the board members welcomed Mr. McAllister.

General Discussion:  Mr. McAllister told the members his views don’t always run with the rest of the fire departments in the parish, but he is here to represent all the fire departments views.

Public Comment:  none

Adjournment:  Mr. Minor made a motion to adjourn.  Mr. Veal seconded the motion.  All members were in favor and the motion carried.
